School Bus Accident Sends Freehold Students to Hospital

The bus was transporting Freehold Township High School students

Over a handful of students and a bus driver were hospitalized following a school bus crash Monday morning.

An employee at the school’s administrative office, who declined to give her name, confirmed an accident involving a Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) bus took place at the intersection of Stillwells Corner Road and Saratoga Place. Those injured in the accident were transported to in Freehold Township.

In a press release issued from the district, FRHSD Communications and District Projects Coordinator Nakell Williams said the driver along with some students are receiving medical care from minor injuries.

"An accident occurred this morning involving a Freehold Township High School bus causing minor injuries," Williams said in the release. "The driver and some of the students are being treated for minor injuries at a local medical center. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation."

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the cause of the accident. "We are still investigating the accident along with the Freehold Township Police Department," said Chris Gramiccioni, the Monmouth County first assistant prosecutor. Although Gramiccioni could not say much about the cause of the crash, he said there were no life threatening injuries resulting from the incident.
