Man Accused of Office Building Burglary

Police say Brian Kelly broke into a Route 9 office complex to steal copper pipes.

A Seaside Heights man is accused of breaking into an office building on Route 9 in order to steal copper, according to Freehold Township police.

Brian Kelly, 31, of Carteret Avenue, was arrested Friday, Sept. 16 at 12:30 a.m. and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft and criminal mischief, police officials said.

Freehold Township Police Officer Andrew Galaydick found an unoccupied vehicle behind an office complex, according to police records. Galaydick called for backup, and Sgt. Earl Cain, Officer Michael Simonetti, Officer Walter Magiera, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officer Joseph Arentino and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Ari responded to the scene.

The officers searched the office building and found Kelly hiding on the second floor of the building, police officials said.

Kelly was processed and released pending a court appearance.
