Sheriff’s Office Assists in Warrants, Fugitive Sweep

Over 30 people were apprehended after a two-day warrants/fugitive operation was conducted in the areas of Asbury Park and Neptune Township.

The operation, which took place on Jan. 30 and 31, was led by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the US Marshals N.Y. N.J. Regional Fugitive Task Force, members of law enforcement from Asbury Park, Neptune Township and Neptune City and the FBI.

A total of 11 individuals were arrested on criminal fugitive warrants for failure to appear on charges that ranged from drugs, weapons, robbery and burglary. The warrant/fugitive operation was held due to an increase in violent crime in the Asbury Park and Neptune areas.

“I commend all of the law enforcement officers involved for the success of the operation,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “They surveyed the areas, chased down suspects and knocked on doors. That kind of commitment and dedication will help ensure public safety in our communities.” 

A total of 50 warrants for non-payment of child support were also served and 32 individuals were arrested. Those apprehended owed a total of $1,113,435 in non-support, the amount they were ordered to pay was solely at the discretion of the courts. Contempt of court and violation of parole warrants were also served.

In addition one individual was arrested for possession of marijuana.

“This two day operation is essential to certain areas hit hardest with violent crimes, and continues our efforts to capture and convict those responsible for these acts,” said Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
