Spring Lake Resident Involved in Freehold Crash Admits to Drunken Driving, Police Say

Forked River man critically injured in Friday accident.

One of the drivers involved in the crash last Friday that left one person in critical condition has admitted to driving while intoxicated at the time of the crash.

According to a report on nj.com John Woods III, 30, of Spring Lake was heading south on Route 9 when he hit another car that started a four car accident. As a result of the accident 21-year-old Albert Mogavero III, of Forked River was taken by medivac helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

The story on NJ.com cited a police report where Woods admitted, “ I [messed] up. I was drinking and driving.”

He was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and driving the wrong way on a single direction highway.
