Storm Update: Approximately 20 Downed Poles and Crews at Work

E-mail explains that over 200 JCP&L workers are working to restore power.

Approximate numbers pertaining to damages experienced in Freehold have been released to go along with the many downed poles and trees.

The storm update came in an email from Freehold Borough Councilman John Newman. The email provided numbers of people working to restore power, number of poles down, and other storm statistics.

The following information came in from the storm update e-mail.

  • Approximately 100 tree workers, 40 hazard responders, and 55 line crews, are making repairs with more line crews from JCP&L on the way to help restore power.
  • There are approximately 20 broken poles down.
  • A state of emergency was issued by Mayor Nolan Higgins at 10 p.m. Saturday night. A curfew was also issued Sunday asking residents to stay indoors from dusk until dawn.

The email also explained that Police will be working 12-hour shifts and will be going street by street with flyers. Extra coverage will also be given by Sheriff Golden.

Another point given in the email was the fact that although the Freehold water plant is fully functional, there are still water and distribution points throughout Freehold. Participating stores and locations in the Freehold area include: Acme, 3241, Route 9, Freehold; Foodarama - ShopRite, South Street and Route 9, Freehold; Norkus Foodtown, 597 Park Avenue, Freehold; Stop & Shop, Raintree Town Center, 160 Village Center Drive, Freehold.
