Tinton Falls Resident Faces Luring Charge in Freehold

A Tinton Falls resident is charged with luring after an incident involving an acquaintance, according to the Freehold Borough Police Department.

On June 19, Lt. Michael Sweetman said 35-year-old Anthony Brian Burke was driving through the borough when he came across a 16-year-old victim. Sweetman said the two knew each other through mutual friends and was described as a friend of the victim’s uncle. Burke reportedly offered the girl a ride to a local carnival but instead brought them to a new car storage lot on Manalapan Avenue near the Freehold Raceway.

Sweetman said upon arriving at the lot Burke reportedly attempted to remove the girl’s shirt before she was able to escape and run to a house on Bowne Avenue where she contacted the authorities. The investigating officer at the time was Rich Schwerthoffer at which time a warrant was issued for luring and criminal sexual contact.
