Freehold Teen Seriously Injured in Wednesday Accident

17-year-old taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

A 17-year-old Township resident was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center following a crash at the intersection of Townsend Drive and Prescott Place on Wednesday afternoon.

The Freehold Township Police Department reported that at 3:39 on Wednesday officers were called to the intersection with reports of a fall victim with a head injury. It was determined that the 17-year-old male had fallen from a moving vehicle and sustained a serious head injury.

At the time of the injury the car he was riding in was being driven by another 17-year-old Township resident with two other 17-year-olds in the car.

Paramedics from MONOC responded to the scene along with the Freehold First Aid Squad to treat the victim. He was originally taken to a landing zone at Michael J. Tighe by the East Freehold Fire Company but was then taken to CentraState Medical Center for Treatment. From there he was taken by the Monoc-1 helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The crash is being investigated by Officer Rich Leidy and Det. Todd Smith. Sgts. Scott Keenan and Scott Hall as well as Det. Russ Gelber and Officers Jack Mandala, Chris DeAngelo and Joe Winowski also responded to the scene.
