Traffic Rerouted on Route 33B for Down Wires

Freehold Township police, JCP&L and NJDOT were on the scene.

The roof of a tractor trailer snagged low-hanging wires on Route 33 Business between Kondrup Way and Route 79, according to New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Assistant Crew Supervisor Edward Rider.

Freehold Township police are detouring traffic onto Jerseyville Ave., Route 79 and Kondrup Way as JCP&L and NJDOT work on the scene. According to Rider, the truck struck the wires around 3:30 p.m., pulling them to the roadway.

Township police officer William Peace, who was directing traffic, said the emergency work was expected to take about two hours and detours would remain in place during that time.
