Trailer Fire Kills Howell Man

Home is located in Oak Hill Trailer Park

A Howell man whom neighbors described as "in his 40s" died Sunday morning after a fire at the Oak Hill Trailer Park, according to the park's manager.

Manager Keith Lackey could not immediately confirm the identity of the man, but said that officials told him a man in the home - located on the corners of Man O' War Lane and Seattle Slew Drive - died of smoke inhalation.

Neighbors described the occupant of the residence as "quiet" and "always out with his dog." It was not immediately clear whether the dog was in the home at the fire.

Police said they received a call for fire and smoke conditions around 10:30 a.m. and by the time a Patch reporter arrived at 10:50 a.m., the fire had been extinguished.

Officials from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department, Prosecutor's Office, and Medical Examiner's Office were on scene this morning, and declined to immediately identify the man. Fire companies from Adelphia and Howell Township responded, as well as Howell police.
