Two Freehold Borough Officers Swear In to New Roles

During the Monday night Freehold Borough Council meeting, Sgt. Andrew Demuth was sworn in as a new Detective Sgt. and Ptl. Christopher Otlowski took the oath of office to become a Sgt.

Two of Freehold Borough’s finest were sworn in to new roles within the department.

Sgt. Andrew Demuth was sworn in as a new Detective Sgt. for the Freehold Borough Police Department during the Monday night Freehold Borough Council meeting. Demuth has been apart of the department for 23 years, 15 of those years were spent as a Sgt.

“Andy is well known in the law enforcement community and is well respected,” said Freehold Borough Council President Kevin Kane. “This is a great move.”

Ptl. Christopher Otlowski was also sworn into a new role on Monday. Otlowski took the oath of office to become a Sergeant. Otlowki started as a dispatcher for the department and became a Police Officer in 1998; he transferred over the Freehold Borough Police Department in 1999. He has served as a detective in the department for the last four years.

“This is a great move for our department. Chris’ extensive background in narcotics is going to be a tremendous advantage for us,” explained Kane.

The two officers were sworn in along side their family and in front of their co-workers and friends.

“These events don’t have to be held,” said Mayor Nolan Higgins. “An officer can just come up and sign his oath and take his office, but we don’t just do that. These officers are very important to our community, our borough and our Police Department so we have a ceremony to recognize the advancement of these men through the ranks, we are certainly appreciative of their services.”
