County: Jackson Mills Road Closed Indefinitely

Span over Manasquan River will require major repairs.

A section of Jackson Mills Road in Freehold Township will be closed indefinitely because of damages sustained during Hurricane Irene, Monmouth County officials said in a press release issued Monday afternoon.

The Jackson Mills Road span over the Manasquan River is one of six county bridges that will require major repairs. Severe flooding led to a collapse at the shoulder of Jackson Mills Road near Strickland Road.

The other damaged bridges are located on Southard Avenue in Howell, Allentown-Crosswicks Road in Upper Freehold Township, Swimming River Road in Tinton Falls, Lake Drive in Ocean Township, and Holland Road in Middletown Township. In addition, earthen dams at Shadow Lake and Lake Lefferts failed, flooding roads and forcing the closure of Hubbard Avenue in Middletown and Ravine Drive in Matawan.
