The Freehold Borough Council has established a date for the 2013 annual budget public hearing.
According to Freehold Borough Business Administrator Joseph Bellina, the public hearing for the 2013 annual budget has been scheduled for May 6; the first regular scheduled council meeting of May.
During the Monday, March 18 meeting, Council President Kevin Kane explained that a new term will be used in the upcoming budget proceedings.
“I would just say at this point that you are going to be seeing and hearing a lot about municipal budgets, ‘Post-Sandy Budgets’ as they are going to be termed,” said Kane. “As you are well aware there was tremendous damage in the hurricane. We had two other events to go along with it. We had the Supercell storm that dropped in on Freehold at the end of July, that created tremendous damage. Then we had the hurricane and was followed a week later by a 15-18 inch snowstorm. We had significant damage and a significant amount of money to pay for this but I think we did a great job on this budget.”
While no numbers relating to the budget were mentioned at the Monday night meeting, Kane stated that the 2013 Freehold Borough annual budget is a responsible one.
