Barnegat Bay Blitz - Freehold Township

In October 2011, over 2,400 volunteers (including DEP Commissioner Martin, DEP officials and staff), cleaned up dozens of areas in the Barnegat Bay watershed's 37 municipalities. Volunteers came from a wide array of local groups including students, senior citizens, environmentalists, business and local government leaders, and even military personnel from Fort Dix.

The 2011 blitz was a major success. Volunteers gathered 739 bags of trash plus 578 bags of recyclables. In addition, 3 30-yard dumpsters and 3 dump trucks were filled!
