Freehold Township Fire Prevention Board Meeting

This Board's responsibilities include the enforcing of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted pertaining to all buildings, structures and premises within the Township.

Two volunteer fire districts that work in close cooperation with each other provide fire protection service in Freehold Township. Two five-member Boards of Fire Commissioners that are elected for three-year terms on a rotating basis, govern each district. The Commissioners in each district are responsible for providing fire protection and for preparing an annual budget that is placed before the voters for approval. Elections for new Commissioners and for approving the budget are held on the second Saturday of each February. In carrying out their functions and plan, the Commissioners work in complete cooperation with the fire companies located in their district.
