Freehold Memorial Day Parade Committee Presents Awards
Committee Chairwoman Alice McCobb roundly praised for her efforts.
Freehold Memorial Day Parade Committee Chairwoman Alice McCobb came to Monday’s Freehold Borough Council meeting to present awards for groups that marched in the event. However, a standing ovation and ample praise was reserved for McCobb, who has chaired the committee for over 20 years.
“Alice and her family are the glue that holds the parade together,” Council President George Schnurr said.
Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer noted that the parade is a family affair for the McCobbs. Alice McCobb’s daughter, Amanda, began taking photos of the parade as a child and has risen through the ranks to become the committee’s vice chairwoman.

“The work that goes into the parade is mind-boggling,” Shutzer said.
In his capacity as Borough Council liaison to the Freehold Memorial Day Parade Committee, Schnurr said he received compliments from veterans for how well run the event was.
