Meetings will take place within the first week of the New Year.

With the final meetings of 2012 taking place this week, local government and school elected officials are announcing their first meetings of the New Year.

Reorganization meetings typically take place during the first week of the New Year. The reorganization meetings are where newly elected officials are sworn into office so they can officially begin their duties.

In Freehold Borough, the council will hold its reorganization meeting on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Freehold Borough Offices. At the Freehold Borough reorganization meeting, Ron Griffiths will be sworn into office, replacing former Councilman John Newman. Councilperson Sharon Shutzer will also be sworn in for another term on the council.

The Freehold Borough Board of Education (BOE) will hold their reorganization meeting on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Park Avenue Complex School Cafeteria. This will be the first year the BOE will hold their reorganization meeting in January.

In Freehold Township, the committee has announced that their reorganization meeting will take place on Friday, Jan. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Freehold Township Offices. As a result of the 2012 election, Anthony Ammiano will be sworn in to another term and Tom Cook will be sworn in for his first term as a Freehold Committeeman.

Following the decision to move the BOE elections to November, the Freehold Township BOE will hold their reorganization meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. and will be held in the Board Office Conference Room of the Freehold Township Board of Education building.
