Freehold Township Committee Recognizes Read Across America

Read Across America will kick off in Freehold Schools Friday, March 1.

The Freehold Township Committee took some time out of their meeting Monday night to recognize the importance of reading.

Friday, March 1 will begin Read Across America in Freehold Township schools. To help kick off the event, Mayor Barbara McMorrow presented a proclamation to Assistant Superintendent Janet Creech, to show the committee’s support of Read Across America.

“The most important thing is that our children become calm, fluent readers and we hope that as they grow older they take those skills with them,” said Creech after receiving the proclamation. “A child who reads 20 minutes a day, it doesn’t matter what it is, will increase their likelihood of being successful in higher education."
