Information for Freehold residents looking to donate their time.

The Freehold Township Office of Emergency Management issued the following alert on Saturday for residents looking to give back in the wake of Hurricane Sandy:

Freehold Township OEM has been receiving phone calls from residents wishing to make material donations and volunteer their time and talents to the Sandy Recovery Efforts.

All material donations may be dropped off at the Thompson Park on Newman Springs Road (Rt. 520) in Lincroft. Items needed include clothing, canned food, blankets, etc.

I urge everyone reading this who still has no power at Freehold Township to file a complaint with the Board of Public Utilities. Problems that I have experienced include: 1) No updates from JCP&L 2) No one answering telephone at JCP&L 3) Excessive wait time for power restoration. 4) Inadequate preparation for storm. They should have powered down the substations during the storm so they can be restarted after the storm without delay. File complaint at http://www.nj.gov/bpu/assistance/complaints/inquiry.html Contact Congressman Smith at http://chrissmith.house.gov/contact/zipauth.htm
