Freehold Township Recreation Commission Approves $30K for New Web Site

Mandatory in-person registration for Freehold Township recreation programs will soon be a thing of the past. The Freehold Township Recreation Committee approved $30,000 for a new Web site and software system at its regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at Michael J. Tighe Park.

Freehold Township residents must currently register and pay for programs at the Michael J. Tighe Park Activity Center during park hours, which can prove difficult for those who live at the other end of the township or have tight schedules. The new Web site will allow the Freehold Township Parks and Recreation Department to accept online credit card payments.

“Once this is online we’re going to have the happiest residents in the world,” Recreation Commissioner Thomas Cook joked.

Vermont Systems Inc. will provide the recreation management software for the new site for $21,000; the remaining $9,000 will be used for site development and maintenance. Recreation Commissioner Steve Walsh estimated that the site will be up and running in two months.

When online registration is available, residents will initially still be able to pay for programs at the activity center, according to Cook.
