In order to congratulate the athletes and coaches, a resolution honoring the team was awarded to Coaches Jerrilynn Acveedo and Stan Parker and to each member of the field hockey team.

“On behalf of my players and our coaching staff I would like to thank the town very much for recognizing what we do on the athletic field. It is always an honor to represent our town in such a prideful way,” said Coach Acveedo to the Council and audience.

The Council also presented the Borough Gymnastics team with a resolution honoring their accomplishment of joining Marlboro High School as being the second Freehold Regional High School Team to win a gymnastics state title. In addition to becoming State Champions, after competing at Montgomery High School on Nov. 12, 2011, the Borough team earned the title of the highest scoring team in the history of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) with a score of 113.10.

Since the winter is gymnastics team main competition season, the girls were not present at the meeting to receive their resolutions. Gymnastics Head Coach, Katie Pusz, received the resolutions in honor of the team.

After all the resolutions were passed out, the council members continued to congratulate the teams and acknowledged the parents and their families for both teams success in becoming State Champions.
