Golden Starts Second Term as County Sheriff

Just a few hours before the first real snowstorm of the year hit our area Shaun Golden was sworn in to a second term as Monmouth County Sheriff.

The official ceremony was held on January 2 during the reorganization meeting for the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders at Biotech High School in Freehold. With his family in attendance Golden was sworn in by his predecessor and current Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno.

Golden said as he starts his second term he looks forward to the future with a department that has more than 600 officers in three divisions and is moving into a new home. “I look forward to continuing to serve all who live, work or visit this great county in an efficient and effective manner for another three years.”

In his first term Golden said he was proud of the work his department did to establish shared service agreements with other organizations. That includes working with the Office of Emergency Management during difficult situations like Hurricanes Sandy and Irene.

Looking forward he said he is going to continue to work on issues like school violence as part of a public safety outreach programs and other spending cuts throughout the agency. “I’m proud of the accomplishments made through the dedicated efforts of all of our employees who faithfully serve the people of Monmouth County,” he said. “Shared services, crime fighting, homeland security and school safety initiatives will remain a top priority as we move forward during the next three years.”
