Council Honors Local Residents and Organizations

Lillie Hendry, Ricky White and the Freehold First Aid Squad were honored at the Feb. 6 Freehold Borough Council meeting.

Before getting down to business at last night’s , the Council took some time to honor local residents and organizations.

Lillie Hendry, Ricky White, and the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad were all mentioned at the Council meeting and thanked for their public service.

Hendry was awarded a resolution that honored her and her commitment to Freehold Borough. The resolution applauds Hendry for her 21 years of service on the Borough Planning Board where she was apart of many developments including the Rug Mill Towers, the revitalization of Mechanic Street and the reconstruction of Liberty Street.

After Hendry was awarded her resolution, the Council again thanked Hendry for her service.

“Thank you Lillie for everything. You could come back year after year after year and we could keep thanking you because you are like the Energizer bunny, you just keep going. God bless you and thank you for everything you have done and everything that you do,” said Council President, Sharon Shutzer.

A resolution honoring Ricky White and the Freehold First Aid Squad was also mentioned during the meeting. White served as the Associate Minister at , and the First Aid and Emergency Squad celebrated its 70th year of service. Resolutions were not physically given out to White and the First Aid and Emergency Squad last night, (White was unable to attend last night’s meeting and the First Aid and Emergency Squad received their resolution at a prior event) but their efforts to better the town were still noted by the Council.

During the Council's comments part of the meeting, Councilman George Schnurr said, “Lillie Hendry and Ricky White are two people in this town that donate a lot of their time to the betterment of their community and so it is only fitting that we honor them this week. In regards to the First Aid, some people on the squad are averaging 2 to 3 calls a day and that is really unbelievable and my hat goes off to those folks.”
