Monmouth Shelters at Capacity

Emergency shelters at 3 high schools are serving as intake facilities for additional evacuees.

Monmouth County shelters operated by the Red Cross at Holmdel High School, Colts Neck High School and Wall High School are at capacity, according to county Public Information Director William Heine. The schools are serving as intake centers and evacuees are being brought to other facilities, the locations of which are not being disclosed, Heine said.

No additional pets can be housed at the Holmdel location, according to the county’s hurricane information Web site.

Local reception centers have been established in municipal buildings and community centers around the county for residents of those towns who need to evacuate to a shelter. Reception centers include:

  • Keansburg - Bolger School, 100 Palmer Place
  • Manalapan - Manalapan High School, 20 Church Lane
  • Marlboro - Town Hall, 1979 Township Drive
  • Neptune - Neptune Township High School, 55 Neptune Boulevard
  • Rumson - Rumson-Fair Haven High School, 224 Hance Road
  • Sea Bright - Rumson-Fair Haven High School, 224 Hance Road
  • Spring Lake - Fire Company #1 - 5th Avenue
