Paving Work Closing Business 33 Friday Night

The full length of Route 33 Business will be closed from Friday night into Saturday morning as the Department of Transportation (DOT) works to complete a paving project near the Howell border with Freehold.

The road will be closed in both directions from approximately 9 p.m. on Friday until 9 a.m. on Monday weather permitting. Drivers heading westbound will be detoured to use Jerseyville Avenue to Route 79 South which will take them back to Route 33 Business. Eastbound drivers will be moved to Route 79 south to Route 33 east to Halls Mill Road before getting back on the original road.

A press release from the DOT said the project is part of a major access permit. Part of the work included is a new driveway for access on and off the highway and new ADA-compliant curb ramps at the intersection with Kondrup Way. That intersection is also being repaved and restriped along with a new and improved drainage system being installed.
