I can not believe that people sit by and condone illegal behavior when many of us had to wait years to obtain legal entry into this great nation. I am an Indian immigrant who now proudly wears the title of US Citizen. I say NO to amnesty of any type to those who have entered this country illegally and to their children I say no unless they can produce proof of paying taxes and meet the same qualifications that me and my family had to go through for years!!!! I am so angry at natural born Americans who just squander away the precious title of US Citizen and belittle it by giving it to law breaking invaders and their families!!!!!

Anna K, that's a nice thing that your family came half way across the globe, and picked the USA over the UK or Canada... But the fact is that many illegals come back to lands that they once lived in. Just look a the names of cities names in the southwest... They are Spanish. So to claim that there is a magical border ... We have a state named NEW Mexico..... so why did your family pick the states over the UK? or Canada. Was it a job?

This entire forum has become skewed... why is Obama focused on supporting illegals and their ability to obtain employment when college grads are graduating with the highest unemployment rate in a long time as well as the highest college loan debt? I do not blame illegal children for being in the country nor do I believe that we should deport children... however when will we start taking care of Americans and creating programs to help people that are here legally? I find it very disheartening that I, as well as a multitude of my friends have worked hard to attend college, took out student loans, and are now struggling to get ahead in this economy.... when we are now creating programs to help illegals? When is everyone going to wake up? My two cents.

Chris, the whole culture has changed in terms of manufacturing, exports, imports and so on. Some jobs or careers are more attainable for students. It's a matter a choosing a major that will be relevant in 2012. For example the legal profession is so saturated and one has to think twice before entering a profession in which it will be difficult to find employment. Patent law is now pretty open but, you have to take some pretty rigorous courses, a rigorous test, etc. Also, the school you choose, grades, contacts (graduating in the top 10% may make it easier) It is upsetting that students are faced with exorbitant loans that face them after graduation. It's disheartening. Our educational system from K-Post Grad. studies has to be examined very closely. There is something wrong when the cost of education has become out of reach for so many. We know the list of nations that are doing well for their young people. It's a priority for those countries who know the only way to advance a culture is to have an educated citizenry. We are in a bad situation with the wars in which we're involved, supporting countries with dictators, corruption in government, so much waste and so on. As I've stated, our problems are so vast and depressing-so many losing their jobs on a weekly basis.
BTW, many undocumented persons are doing menial labor and put the blame on people who are hiring them. The media has exposed politicians who have "illegals' working for them..Again, corruption..

How do we know that these people allowed to stay in the good old USA are Americans in their hearts and not on a piece of paper? I see many cars driving through Freehold with flags of different countries dangling from their rear view mirrors and plastered on their back windows. Americans at heart? I think not.Why do we go to stores and see directions printed in another language as well as English? If you're here and an American at heart, English is your first language. If a citizen of the USA has to go through steps that take months and months to obtain Food Stamps or financial help from the state that they live legally in, why is it not the same procedure for a person who wants to be an American citizen to have to go through certain steps and wait.............know why? It's election time!!!!

you all have yourselves in a tizzy. its not going to happen. do you really think that an illegal immigrant who now gets over 10 bucks an hour or maybe more tax free is going to get a job on the books for minimum wage and pay into federal income & state taxes?do you think that contractor or owner of a restaruant is going to put them on the books and pay by check and pay their fair share of being self employment taxes?I think not. and most of the deportations that occured in 2011 were all due to crimes commited by illegal's. and how are they going to prove they have been here over 5 years? i cant see how this is going to work..

Chris, the same question can be asked of the republicans who control many of the southern state legislatures who are trying to limit the voting rights of most of their minorities who are usually Black or Hispanic. It's because they traditionally vote for democrats. By passing restrictive (and unconstitutional) laws preventing decades old registration drives and asking local election boards to cull their voting lists for fraudulent names, they are trying to intimidate a targeted group of citizens from registering and voting. The local republican officials who run those election boards, sensibly refused to do that because they say there is no voter fraud the way the legislators and governors claim there is and besides that, the order is unconstitutional in a federal election...If Obama decided to issue this executive order to allow certain qualified children of undocumented residents to remain in the US if they are productive and served in the military or are proving to be good, law abiding residents, yes, it helps him politically and in the end, it will help our country...Notice how Romney is spinning his wheels in a rut because he either is refusing to say he would repeal the order if he gets elected because he is desperate to get more Hispanic votes but if he hedges his decision, he angers his right wing supporters, like many on this forum, who want everyone deported NOW.

It doesn't matter what President Obama says; it's pure puffery in this election year. There has been no real action to deport illegals for a long time; the States are fed up and will take their own action eventually because they can't afford the social services to support the illegals.

Everything that Romney has said and then changed his mind about and then stumbled over to explain what he doesn't know is totally politically motivated because he's trying to please anyone who might vote for him. If necessary, he'll say the sun is shining at midnight if someone insists it is and then blame Obama if it isn't. (I'm not talking about the Arctic Circle where the sun shines all day long in the summer)

That is NOT true. If a child is born to non French parents in France, they have several options... at 13 the parents can ask for citizenship for the offspring, at 16 the offspring can ask, and at 18... only requirement is you lived in France for 5 years.
so not the best example.

This is what you get when you drop out of school....I guarantee you that 90% of the children the President wants to provide an education for could write a more coherent sentence than you can...But, I guess having an education and being able to express yourself intelligently means you are a communist. You are certainly a credit and a good example of the others who post on this thread the same way.

I heard on the news that there are 60,000 illegals in New Jersey alone. To gain perspective on this, that is roughly the population of Middletown, a large town in Monmouth County. Immigration needs to be under control. It costs a lot of money to educate and provide services to help immigrants prosper. The only way to truly accommodate them is to have a legal system of accountability. Everyone should have to abide by the same rules and laws. We can't do anything about the immigration process during the past 20 years, but we can make the future process more efficient. Our economy can not provide all the resources necessary. It is only fair to know who is here and be able to financially plan for them. If there is not enough money to provide the necessary services required to learn the language, have ESL programs at school, have staff at hospitals who are bilingual, have job training, than we are not truly helping the immigrant population. The only way to have a system that works is to know who is here and not have them living under the radar.

we have reality... we have the best interest of the country and its people, and not just a few and corporations... we have love of country, the entire country, not just a few that donated bigs bucks... We have the ill who where dumped from health insurance, we have the poor who are hungry, we have the underemployed who struggled with how they'll pay for college so that the next generation will better, we have the elderly who worry that the 401k and pension they paid into may be worthless or just not enough to live on, we have the LGBT families who just want to raise a family like anyone else, we have the needs and safety of those who don't want to think of a bridge or road is dangerous, we have the future generations, who might not have 3.50 gas and might pay what they do presently in the UK $10 or even more... We have the unemployed who want so badly the dignity of a job.

Under the president’s new immigration policy, those here illegally, but who came here before age 16 and are younger than 30 (and meet certain other qualifications) may sign up and get work permits. That might sound good… but think deeper. The president’s new policy is a TEMPORARY PROGRAM — a TWO YEAR PROGRAM. (Yes, it could be extended but right now it is only a two-year protection from deportation.)
To get that work permit, the person here illegally would have to admit being here illegally (why else would the person need a work permit?) and provide all sorts of personal info (e.g. where to find the person!) In other words, the person would be putting a big target on his or her back for ICE deportation in two years when the program expires (if not extended.) What person here illegally (and in his right mind), will go to the government, announce being here illegally (e.g. plead guilty), provide all sorts of information as to where that person lives etc. to get a work permit only to be a target for deportation in two years? Or, perhaps sooner if Governor Romney is elected and he decides to cancel the temporary program? Answer: no one. People here illegally are not looking for ways to identify themselves to the government for a temporary program. The president’s new immigration policy will be rationally perceived as simply bait for ICE, and not some great dream.

....on the other hand......I'm not sure those here illegally give a hoot or have one iota of concern about being "caught". They're here NOW....living under the radar....not having been caught...not having been stopped, detained, incarcerated...at all. And...in fact NJ issued photo ID's to illegals...because it's a "sanctuary state". This gave them photo ID's so that they could access medical treatment at taxpayer-funded clinics, borrow books from local libraries, cash checks and access other public services offered by the cities or counties they live in. Having been given the "keys to the city"....why would anyone here illegally be concerned about being "found out".
The government has ZERO concern about deporting these people...the snowball has grown too big...and no one wants to pay to have it pushed up the hill.

You cant sneak across the border and call yourself a immigrant ------Your not your a lawbreaker ----- Crossing across our borders is a crime -----unless you have proper documents -------Apply to come here like my grandparents did ------ you will be given a visa and you can apply and become a citizen of the USA --------FOLLOW THE SIMPLE PROCEDURES
