Remaining Borough Fiscal Year Budget Redistributed

At the Dec. 27, Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council, a resolution to transfer left over money from the budget was passed.

With the end of the year drawing near, the have made budget transfers to assist with necessary expenditures. 

At the Dec. 27, Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council, a resolution was passed that authorized the transfer of appropriations in the fiscal year 2011 budget. In total, $47,000 dollars remained from the 2011 budget from four areas: employee group insurance, legal and other expenses, street lighting, and police salary and wages. 

The extra $47,000 has been redistributed to four other areas that could use more money for expenses. According to the resolution, gasoline will receive $12,000 from the remaining budget, engineering and other expenses will receive $900, assessment of taxes and other expenses will receive $15,000 and parks and recreation and other expenses will receive $7,500 from the remaining budget.

The resolution also stated that with the remaining money, two contributions were also made. One contribution was to the , worth $3,500 and the other contribution was made to help out the First Aid worth $8,500.

“Back in April, the Court Street School asked us for money but we had to tell them to wait until the end of the year to see what was left over,” said Councilman George Schnurr. “The money will go to floors and other repairs they need.”
