Ron Griffiths Announced to Run with Councilwoman Shutzer

Ron Griffiths will run with Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer for Borough Council.

After a long and intense process, the Freehold Borough Democrats know who Council President Sharon Shutzer will be running with in the June primary.

Ron Griffiths, President of the Freehold Borough Housing Corporation and a longtime resident of Freehold Borough, was announced to run with Shutzer last night at the Freehold Borough Democrats reorganization meeting.

“To say that I am honored that there are so many people in this town that would have wanted the opportunity to run with me is an understatement, I was overwhelmed,” said Shutzer. “When the committee told me who was chosen I emailed Ron and said ‘I am very honored to have you as a running mate'.”

Griffiths was chosen from 10 original candidates by a nominating committee. The committee, made up of Councilman Kevin Kane, Councilman George Schnurr, Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer, and Borough Attorney, Kerry Higgins, held interviews, brought candidates before the Monmouth County committee and then ultimately voted on Shutzer’s running mate.

“The nominating committee felt that Ron’s experience, background, and well proven commitment to Freehold, make him and ideal candidate for Council,” said Kane.
