Ron Griffiths and Sharon Shutzer were sworn in as Councilmembers at the Freehold Borough Council reorganization meeting.

Ron Griffiths has officially become a member of the Freehold Borough Council.

At the Jan. 6 Freehold Borough Council reorganization meeting, Griffiths took his first oath of office to become a Freehold Borough Councilman.

In 2012 Griffiths beat out former Councilman John Newman who the sole republican on the Council. Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer was also sworn in at the meeting after bringing in the most votes during the 2012 election.  Both Griffiths and Shutzer were sworn into a three-year term.

After the agenda was completed, each councilmember took time to look back at 2012 and talk about their hopes for 2013. As a council newcomer, Griffiths went into detail about the goals he has set for serving and thanked those who voted for him.

“I am both humbled and happy to be a councilman in Freehold Borough. As a third generation resident, educated in the Borough school system, I am honored to represent you in our hometown,” said Griffiths. “I thank the voters for their confidence in Sharon and I in the primary and general elections. It is now up to us to reward your confidence by governing in a way that is fiscally prudent and maintains the level of service that you deserve.”
