Three Freehold Women Celebrate 100th Birthday

Borough Mayor and Council honor each woman with resolution celebrating their lives.

The Freehold Borough Mayor and Council honored three women for reaching their 100th birthday, a milestone in their lives.

Mayor Nolan Higgins presented the women with resolutions in a ceremony held at Assisted Living. The council passed the resolutions at the meeting on March 5 at .

“In looking at the resolutions, not only did each one of them reach the age of 100 years, but all three ladies were independent ladies before it was fashionable to be so,” said Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer.

"Among them they had 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren," added Shutzer.

The following is a description of each of the women per the resolutions:

Ruth Berg was born in September 1912. She was married and had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Berg was a talented seamstress and a volunteer for Hadassah, an American Jewish volunteer organization.

Sylvia Lattman was born in February 1912. She was married and had 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was a bookkeeper and an active family person.

Ida Soloman was born in January 1912. She was married and had 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Soloman was a bookkeeper and also a volunteer for Hadassah, an American Jewish volunteer organization.
