Township Committee Honors Local Attorneys

William J. Mehr and Peter R. LaFrance were honored for receiving the 2011 Good Scout Award.

The Freehold Township Committee issued proclamations to two local attorneys during Tuesday’s workshop meeting at Town Hall. William J. Mehr and Peter R. LaFrance, members of the law firm Mehr, LaFrance & Williams in Freehold Borough, were honored for being recipients of the 2011 Good Scout Award by the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts of America.

The Good Scout Award recognizes community leaders in Monmouth County in the three districts in the Monmouth Council. The Battleground District held its Western Monmouth Good Scout Reception for Mehr and LaFrance at the American Hotel in June.

Mehr has been active in the Freehold Exchange Club, Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Freehold, the area’s business partnership. For his part, LaFrance was selected for the Good Scout Award for his efforts as a founder of the Annual Golf Outing for the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts of America and his service with IEP Youth Services, the Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold and the Freehold Exchange club. LaFrance has also provided legal services to the Englishtown- Manalapan Rescue Squad and the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad.
