I want to nominate Tony Silva's Fusion Martial Arts. Master Tony Silva is an amazing young business man. His love for the martial arts comes through in everything he teaches, whether it be children or adults.

Kidsafe Karate at the YMCA on East Freehold Road is terrific. Sensei Chris has a close relationship with his students. He teaches youngsters how to apply practical safety measures such as how to get away from a stranger who is physically trying to take them away. Sensei Chris also takes time to talk with them at the end of each class about bullying and other relevant topics. He really listens and considers their answers. He uses his senior students to give individual and extra attention to anyone who wants it. Challenged children are welcomed into the group. All are encouraged in a positive way (in all things) to "strive to do your best; settle for nothing less!"

Kidsafe karate at the YMCA, East Freehold Road, Freehold is one of the best around. Sensei Chris just rocks! He teaches safety, karate and what not to use your karate on, which I personally like. Teaching children of all age groups. His past students that are black belts help teach the class as well as work with children that aren't in that particular class but have arrived early to practice. Class fees are per class, not signing your life away for your child to learn karate. Summer time is fun time in classes, the students are taught a bunch of "other" martial arts to give them a taste for what other schools may offer. Competition once a year, is something every karate student should experience at least once. Kids from all over the area come to the classes and friendships last a lifetime. It is really a family, not a class!

We have been to several karate schools.. but TonySilva's Fusion is our perfect fit. Master Silva makes every day a day of fun and a learning experience. He is such a great role model for everyone of his students from lil ninga's to adults.. He is well respected by everyone including the parents and he is not hard on the kids. If they are doing something wrong or lose focus he makes a joke about it and simply corrects the problem and no one feels hurt or like they failed. (This is important when you have a very sensitive child that has low self esteem.. we have been to classes where we couldn't go back cause he was aggressively disciplined.) Master Silva gathers his students half way through class and gives them a life learned lesson.. As a parent observing I sometimes get tears in my eyes and say wow.. he is not even a parent but knows the right things to say every time. He is a young instructor in his 20s and everyone of his students look up to him. He hosts family days like mothers day and fathers day and beach day and Parents night out on his own time instilling the message of how important family is. His parents are with him during these events and support him and it really means a lot to see them support his business. Master Silva never makes anyone feel like they are a failure he has a way to make them feel good about themselves and encourages them in positive ways to do there best.
