Art Students Show Heart at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School

Art and life skills students raised money for three charities, and music students provided entertainment for the evening.

Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School hosted “Art With Heart,” a student art show and coffee house, on Tuesday, March 8. The event included 34 student paintings, many with a focus on environmental issues. Art teacher Emily Ward said the class was assigned to raise awareness of a topic through art. The art students also designed and painted wooden plaques and picture frames to sell for charity, with proceeds benefitting Heifer International and the World Wildlife Fund.

Life skills students under the direction of their teacher, Nancy Lee, sold coffee, tea, hot chocolate, brownies and blondies. The funds raised were donated to the Graeme Preston Foundation for Life. To complete the coffee house atmosphere, Jesse Ryan’s music and chorus students performed for the crowd. Ward estimated that 150 to 200 people attended “Art With Heart” Tuesday evening.
