Freehold Borough schools have been recognized for their safety precautions. At the Feb. 13 meeting, the Borough BOE received a Safety Award from the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group (NJSBAIG) commending their efforts to keep schools safe.

Patrick DeGeorge, Business Administrator and Secretary for the Borough Board of Education, shared the award with the rest of the board.

“It is pretty significant because it’s indicative of the efforts that the district continues to make to raises the level of consciousness about safety across the district.”

According to DeGeorge, some of the safety measures taken by the district include the formation of safety committees, the completion of district-wide safety surveys and a closer look at all safety issues that affect the district in insurance.

This is the second year in-a-row that the Borough BOE has received this award.

“As far as facilities and staff go, it’s a good thing especially considering the fact that before last year we had gone three years without such recognition,” explained DeGeorge. “Kudos and congratulation to the folks who work on the safety committee and keep up with the good work; this is pretty important.”
