Cher Lloyd Performs for Freehold High School

Freehold High School received a free concert from Cher Lloyd after winning 92.3 NOW FM's 'Last School Standing' Contest.

Freehold High School (FHS) students took a break from their typical Wednesday night activities to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity.

As winners of 92.3 NOW FM’s ‘Last School Standing’ contest, students saw a private performance with Cher Lloyd, a 2010 X-Factor UK finalist. Singer of chart topping songs “Want U Back” and “Oath”, FHS students cancelled their usual after school activities to see Lloyd perform a private concert for them.

“I quit drama so that I could come to this show,” said FHS junior Jordan Hanley. “I cancelled swimming too,” said Lexi McGrath, also a junior at FHS.

While the road to get to Wednesday night’s performance had its bumps, FHS students lined up as early at 4 p.m. outside the ballroom of iPlay America and patiently waited for Lloyd to take the stage.

“I was so upset when I heard that we might not be able to have the concert,” said sophomore Alex Figler. “We voted non-stop, I even had my mom’s whole work vote for us to win this concert too."

Lloyd’s set included several songs off her new album as well as popular covers. After her performance, Lloyd sat down with 92.3 NOW FM’s DJ Toro and answered questions submitted by students.
