Dwight D. Eisenhower Students Rock Out

The middle school held its fourth annual Back in Black 'n Gold concert.

Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School became the School of Rock Thursday night. Eighth grade students in the school’s advanced performance music classics took the stage for the fourth annual Back in Black ‘n Gold concert. Music teacher Jesse Ryan directed the bands Lost and Found and 16 Rumors through rock classics such as Van Halen’s “Jump” and the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction,” and more modern selections, including OutKast’s “Hey Ya” and a medley of Lady Gaga songs.

In addition to performances by Lost and Found and 16 Rumors, Shot From the Stars, a band comprised of Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School alumni, performed Led Zeppelin’s “Living Loving Maid.”

The proceeds from the concert went to benefit the Graeme Preston Foundation for Life and the Kevin Riley Clawson Living by Giving Foundation, according to Principal Dianne M. Brethauer. Graeme Preston and Kevin Clawson were students at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School when they were killed in a skateboarding accident in 2008.
