2020 Vision for Freehold Township Schools: A Community Forum

If you take a quick look around, you will see that the world we live in is changing at a rapid pace. Technological advances have made it extremely easy to put our children on the internet to find information, to do research, or to post their thoughts and ideas on social media and blogging sites. So if parents, teachers, school faculty and staff are not in tune with these advances, often the student becomes the teacher, both at home and in the classroom.

That is why Superintendent of Freehold Township School District, Ross Kasun, Ed. D will host an open community forum on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the Eisenhower Middle School Gymnasium, located at 279 Burlington Road  in Freehold.

This forum is open to all Freehold Township residents and is designed to engage parents, community members and staff in a collaborative dialogue that will help define and clarify a collective vision for the future of FTSD schools. It will also serve to launch Superintendent, Dr. Ross Kasun’s Strategic Planning Process for the district, “2020 Vision”.

“Education must provide the skills and knowledge students will need in the future. The Freehold Township School District is committed to providing our students with the highest quality education possible, so that they will be prepared for their future roles in the community, the workplace and the world,” said Dr. Kasun, “My hope that we will attract a large number of attendees to take part in this opportunity to help shape the direction of our school district for the future.”

Broad themes that will be covered include; globalization; technology; changes in knowledge, teaching, and learning; Common Core State Standards and required assessments that will redefine what students need to be able to do and understand at each grade level; and information about the trends that will impact our children will be provided.
