Dr. Walter Greason Speaks at Monmouth County Historical Association Headquarters

As part of its new "Historically Speaking" lecture series, the Monmouth County Historical Association will welcome Dr. Walter D. Greason. Greason will speak on his recent publication, The Path to Freedom: Black Families in New Jersey, which reveals how African-American migrants transformed civil rights in New Jersey between 1920 and 1970. The story is told through photographs of several generations of local Freehold families.

Greason is an associate professor of History and American Studies at Ursinus College where he also serves as coordinator of the African American and Africana Studies Program. As a proud native of Freehold, Greason frequently returns to our area offering teacher training in American history and diversity training for corporations and community groups.

The lecture is open to the public and admission is free. Refreshments will be served following Greason’s presentation. Please call 732-462-1466 for further information or to reserve a seat.
