CentraState Healthcare System is offering a free lecture and prostate and colorectal cancer screenings for men on Sept. 27, 6-8 p.m. at CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center, 901 W. Main Street, Freehold.
The physician lecture is 6-6:30 p.m. and will discuss the detection and treatment of prostate and colon problems.
Immediately following the lecture, free prostate and colorectal cancer screenings will be available from 6:30-8 p.m. The screenings are for men 40 years of age and older who have never had a PSA blood test and have no previous diagnosis of prostate cancer. The screening will consist of a blood draw for a PSA level as well as a rectal exam and stool for occult blood check.
Two days prior to screening: Do not take more than 250mg of vitamin C per day, avoid antacids, alcohol and aspirin.
