FHS Presents 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'

The Drama Club will perform their spring production Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2.

Freehold High School (FHS) is going Greek this weekend with the production of their Spring Musical.

“A Funny Things Happened on the Way to the Forum” will premiere on Friday, March 1 and will continue through Saturday night. KasiAnn Sweeney, FHS English and Drama teacher as well as the play’s Director, decided to introduce the 31 cast members and 25 pit members to the Greek comedy because of her love for the play.

“I fell in love with this play in 1996,” explained Sweeney. “I love the music and the comedy aspect so I have always had this play on the back burner, I was just waiting for the right cast.”

According to Sweeney, the play features slapstick humor, but it is also considered a musical, which at first made some Drama Club members, question their roles.

“I am normally not big into musicals, but I was convinced once I learned that not all of the roles required much singing,” explained FHS junior James Garlock. “I have played the lead role in this year’s and last year’s fall productions, but I am always nervous, just like my character in this play."

Garlock will be playing the role of Hysterium along side sophomore, Andrew Diaz, who has been cast as Pseudolus.

“I never heard of the play before this, but it has been a great experience working on it,” said Diaz.  “I am nervous but really excited at the same time."
