Freehold Borough Schools Selected for Teacher Evaluation Program

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini, and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande announced last week that Freehold Borough has been chosen to participate in the second year of the Christie Administration’s teacher evaluation pilot program.

Educators in Freehold Borough will work collaboratively with the Department to develop new educator evaluation systems for rollout across the state to help teachers continuously improve their practice.

“This is very exciting for Freehold Borough,” said Senator Jennifer Beck. “They will now be an instrumental component in refining a new system to ensure that our children are receiving the best education New Jersey can offer. The Christie Administration has carefully crafted this program so the outcome is the absolute best for the students.”

Throughout the first year of the teacher evaluation pilot, educators in eleven pilot districts and 19 School Improvement Grant schools helped the Department develop and refine aspects of the new teacher evaluation system in preparation for the roll out to all districts in 2013-14. Educators and administrators provided feedback on the impact the new evaluation system is having on their teaching practice, schools and districts.

“Freehold Borough educators are uniquely qualified to be part of this project,” said Casagrande. “They have become experts at doing more with less while ensuring children receive the best education possible.”
