Freehold Township Girl Appears on Today Show

Melanie Amoroso's Halloween costume landed her on television.

Melanie Amoroso’s homemade Halloween costume landed her on NBC’s Today Show on Monday. Amoroso, a nine-year-old Freehold Township resident, was one of five people featured on the costume contest segment of news program’s Halloween show.

 “I have an Oral B toothbrush. Since I use it every night I came up with the idea to make a costume out of it,” Amoroso told Today Show co-host Matt Lauer.

Amoroso’s dad, Freehold Township Board of Education member Michael Amoroso, helped make the spinning brush Oral B toothbrush costume.

“The costume had working vibration, a working charge LED on the front, and a working push pad on the front like a real toothbrush,” he said.

Michael Amoroso could not be more proud his daughter, who is a fourth grader at .

“My daughter spoke on NBC in front of millions,” he said.

Amoroso won two tickets to see Justin Bieber, a Nintendo DS3D system, and a $50 Visa gift card.
