Freehold Voters Pass School Tax Levies

Residents supported the Freehold Township and Freehold Borough school district tax levies.

Freehold Township residents supported a $56,734,169 school district tax levy at the polls Wednesday evening. The unofficial tally from the Freehold Township Clerk’s Office was 1,671 for the levy and 1,173 against.

Michael Amoroso, Jennifer Boutote Patten and incumbent Michelle Lambert won the three three-year terms on the ballot, besting Patricia MacRae, Charles Bourgeois and Hassan Shehadeh. The vote tally was 1,178 for Lambert, 1,176 for Amoroso, 991 for Boutote Patten, 952 for MacRae, 446 for Bourgeois, and 226 for Shehadeh. Incumbent Jason Levy ran unopposed for a one-year unexpired term, receiving 1,386 votes.

Township voters passed the Freehold Regional High School District’s $115,600,253 tax levy by a vote of 1,704 to 1,159 The township was responsible for $23,987,216 or the proposed levy.

Freehold Township had an open seat on the Freehold Regional High School District but no candidates on the ballot. Write-in results were not immediately available, Freehold Township Clerk Terry Warner said.

In Freehold Borough, residents supported an $8,268,967 tax levy for the municipality’s school district. The unofficial results from the Freehold Borough Clerk’s Office with all seven districts reporting were 328 in favor and 202 opposed.

Bruce Patrick and incumbents James Keelan and Daniel Xavier ran unopposed for three three-year terms. Keelan received 350, Patrick received 331 votes, and Xavier received 329.

Borough voters passed the Freehold Regional High School District’s tax levy by a vote of 323 to 207. The borough was responsible for $3,966,328 of the proposed levy.
