Fundraiser to Benefit Tara Hansen’s Son

West Freehold Elementary School teacher died in March from complications associated with childbirth.

Friends of the Freehold Township School District teacher who died in March are organizing a benefit for her infant son.

Tara Hansen, 29, taught fourth grade at West Freehold Elementary School. She gave birth to her first child, Brandon, on March 25 and died days later from complications associated with childbirth.

“Knowing Tara made you want to be a better person, do more and be more,” said Maria Fornicola, a friend of Hansen’s involved with organizing the benefit. “She was that amazing of a person and had that much impact on all who knew and loved her.

Angels on Earth: A Benefit for Tara Hansen will take place Sunday, Sep. 11 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Headliner in Neptune. The funds raised at the event will benefit Hansen’s son and husband, Ryan Hansen.

The event will feature live entertainment by the Mike Dalton Band, as well as a gift auction. Tickets are $20 if pre-ordered and $25 at the door. A buffet is included in the ticket price. The fundraiser will have a cash bar with happy hour drink specials available, so attendees must be over 21.
