HS Music Department Receives $2000 Award
The GRAMMY Foundation gave FHS' music department $2,000.
The Music Department received a $2,000 award from the GRAMMY Signature School Community Award program in a ceremony at the Freehold Racewar Mall on July 4. The award came as part of the GRAMMY Foundation's partnership with Best Buy Mobile to help fund deserving school music programs, according to a press release. The GRAMMY Foundation was established in 1989 to help young people discover and foster their musical talent.
The GRAMMY Foundation, in partnership with Best Buy Mobile, launched a new extension of its GRAMMY Signature Schools program in August 2010 titled the GRAMMY Signature Schools Community Award. To celebrate the opening of new Best Buy Mobile stores across the country the GRAMMY Foundation identified deserving public high school music programs to receive an award amount of $2,000, according the GRAMMY's website. Over 250 schools have received awards since the program's inception.
