Last Chance: Participate in the Catena Fun Run

Participants will have the opportunity to sing "Happy Birthday" to Catena and enjoy a piece cake made by the Buddy the Cake Boss from TLC.

The in the Freehold Township School District is “50 Years and Running Strong!”

In order to celebrate their 50 year anniversary, the school is hosting a fun run on Saturday April 21. The proceeds will be used toward a shared fitness trail for the Catena and Eisenhower Schools of Freehold Township.

"This is the first fun run that we are hosting," said Dana Kelly, Catena School teacher. "We would really like to make this event a success!"

The event will take place at  and will include a 3 mile Run/Walk will beginning at 8:45 a.m., the 1 mile run at 10:15 a.m. and the 50yd Dash at 11:00 a.m.   

There are already 200 people signed-up to participate, but there is still plenty of rooms for more. All interested participants can still register on Friday, April 20th from 6-7:30 p.m. at Joseph J. Catena School and also race day from 7-8:30 a.m.

On race day there will be bagels, fruit and water for participants, as well as food for sale.  There will also be music and a cooking demonstration from Wegmans. 

No birthday celebration is complete without some cake. According to Kelly, participants will have the opportunity to sing “Happy Birthday” to Catena and have a cupcake or piece cake made by the Buddy the Cake Boss from TLC, although he will not be able to make it himself.

Kelly says there will be other celebs contributing to the event. Christie Rampone from the women's olympic soccer team was also a big sponsor for the event, donating all the t shirts.

Awards will be given to 3 mile and mile participants for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and all participants in the 50yd Dash.
