Kevin Roche of Freehold will run 26.2 miles in the NJ Marathon to help raise money for the Freehold Borough Education Foundation.

On Sunday, May 6th, I will be running in the New Jersey Marathon starting in Long Branch, New Jersey.

This will be my first full marathon, yes 26.2 miles. I have spent the past several months physically and mentally preparing and training for this race. Along with accomplishing my personal goal of running and completing a full marathon, my run will help raise funds for the .

The Foundation was established in 1999 by a group of private citizens who saw the need for community support of our . The belief system that evolved from a consensus of our diverse community guided the creation of the Foundation. As an independent entity, controlled by private citizens and not the Board of Education or School Administration, the Foundation has become a catalyst for excellence.

Foundation funds are not intended as a substitute or replacement for the regular school budgets. Rather, the grants awarded by the Foundation have stimulated the development of new innovative programs that would not otherwise have been possible. They have encouraged excellence in creative teaching and facilitated student development. They have injected new energy into our schools, giving students a chance to participate in exciting and challenging projects.
