Park Avenue Students Earn High Marks In Stock Market Game

Eight students earn second place in a simulated stock market competition.

Eight fourth graders from Park Avenue Elementary School were honored at a statewide awards ceremony held at Stockton College for their second place finish in the Stock Market Game, school district officials said.

The Stock Market Game, sponsored by the Securities Industry and Financial Mark Association, aims to increase understanding of financial markets. Each of the participating schools were given $100,000 in fake money to invest in the market. Their stock picks were tracked by the association, according to a district release.

The Park Avenue teams, from Wendy Buchanan’s Gifted & Talented class, participated in the Fall 2012 and the Spring 2013 competitions. Each time the Freehold Borough students achieved a second place finish, the release says.
