Third Graders "Tour The World" At Park Avenue Elementary

Pupils hard work on display for presentation by more than 100.

Four third grade classes comprised of more than 100 students from Park Avenue Elementary School had the opportunity to “Tour the World” last week, according to a school release.

Through a grant funded by the Freehold Borough Education Foundation, the third grade teachers were able to purchase display boards, materials, passports, and decorations to support the 'World Tour' presentation.

Over the winter, groups of three to four students were assigned various countries to research from each of the seven continents. Their research focused on important cities, prominent people, native languages, popular foods, and flags.

“This event is the result of a tremendous amount of work on the part of our third grade teachers,” Principal Shauna Schubiger said in the release. “It’s wonderful for the students to see that all the time they’ve devoted to working on their projects has resulted in such a well received presentation! We hope to continue events similar to this in the future in additional grades.”

The culmination of all their hard work was on display last Tuesday night throughout the Park Avenue gymnasium. Visitors and students received passports that were “stamped” as they visited each country on display. Enthusiastic third graders excitedly shared their new knowledge on their assigned country. The event concluded as the entire third grade assembled on the stage, singing and performing songs focusing on understanding and awareness of the world, the release said.
