BlueClaws Return Home as Playoff Push Continues

Only one home game is left in the regular season.

After Their game scheduled for Sunday was rained out, the Lakewood BlueClaws will return to action today at FirstEnergy Park to kick off a eight game stretch on their home field. With four games against Delmarva and another four against Greensboro it figures to be an action packed week at the park.

The fun kicks off tonight at 7:05 against the ShoreBirds, but they will not be the only flying creatures in the stadum. "The Famous Chicken," is scheduled to make an appearance to entertain the fans as long as the rain does not get his feathers too wet. It will also be a kids eat free Monday where all the young fans get a voucher for a free hot dog, soda and bag of chips.

Thanks to the rain Tuesday will be a doubleheader starting at 6:05 when the first 2000 women 18 and older will get a free pink tote bag courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. It will also be senior Tuesday where all the senior citizens at the park will get a voucher for a free hot dog, chips and soda. The makeup game from Sunday's washout will follow with the first 2000 fans at that game getting a free jersey pillow for coming out to the park.

The Shorebirds last trip to Lakewood for the regular season will wrap up with an appearance by the always popular ZOOperstars as part of Dollar Dog Wednesday when small hot dogs will cost just $1. When the Greensboro Grasshoppers come to town on Thursday they will be clearly reminded that they are facing the two time South Atlantic League Champions. The first 2000 fans at the stadium will receive a display of the back-to-back championship rings the Claws have brought home after the last two seasons. It will also be Thirsty Thursday with $1 beers, $1 soda and 50 cent wings as well as a concert.

Friday will be another fireworks display at the ballpark and will also be part of a school supply drive by the Salvation Army. On Saturday the first 2000 fans will receive Logo baseballs for coming out to the 7:05 game and the series will wrap up at 5:05 on Sunday night when the first 5000 kids will receive a $10 Monmouth Mall gift card as part of back to school night.
