Freehold Pop Warner Cheerleaders Compete for 100th Title

Three Freehold Pop Warner cheerleading teams are heading to Walt Disney World this weekend to compete for the National Title.

Family and friends gathered at Wednesday, Nov. 30, for a Pep Rally to congratulate the Freehold Giants Pop Warner Cheerleaders. The three teams, Jr. Pee Wee Small Novice, Jr. Midget Small Intermediate and Midget Medium Novice will be leaving for Walt Disney World this weekend to compete against teams from across the country.

The three teams combined have 45 girls going to Disney where they will compete, vacation, and see some study time since they will be missing school during their competition. When asked about the competition, Lauren Burdge, Vice President of Freehold Pop Warner Cheerleading said “We are more excited than nervous, we have been through some tough competition already and I think that once we get there, our excitement is going to overcome our nerves.”

The girls have been practicing for this opportunity since August. Their routine is 2 minutes and 30 seconds long, and will be the only time the girls have during their trip to impress the National Judges.  The girls will find out the same day they compete if they will be taking home the National Title.

New Jersey Shore Pop Warner Spirit Commissioner, Cathy Fuller, spoke at last night’s Pep Rally and gave the girls some words of encouragement. “We have a good chance of bringing home the 100th title for us.” said Fuller. “All the girls have talent and together we are an extremely talented team.”

Ending the night with a cheer from all three teams, the Freehold Giants will compete for the National Title in Disney from Dec. 3 to Dec. 10.
